LISA Performance Model
Context
The LISA performance model provides a breakdown from the top-level strain performance required by the LISA Science Requirements Document down to the individual contributors to the interferometric displacement measurement and residual test mass acceleration noise.
The breakdown is presented as two parallel budgets
An Allocation
, which can be interpreted as the required performance for an individual contributor (i.e., nominally a top-down approach).
A Model Based Estimate
(MBE), which is the performance that the current physical model of the instrument predicts with a given inputs parameters and noises configuration. An inputs parameters and noises configuration could be "End Of Life", "Current Best Estimate" or "Requirements" (i.e., a bottom-up approach). During preliminary definition phases only one "Requirements/Worst Case Scenario" configuration is used under the label "nominal".
